Google+

I'm sure anyone reading this belongs to some kind of social networking site, whether it be MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, etc.  But, have you heard of Google+, yet?  It is a new social networking site by who else but Google, and while it is still in Beta, some of us lucky folks have been able to try it out already.

So far, I really like it.  It it much cleaner than Facebook, and has a really nice filtering system, where you can put different people in specific circles, whether they're close friends, classmates, colleagues, and so on.  This makes it easier to keep in touch with specific groups of people, and also makes it easier to stalk certain people by interest.  You can select a group's feed, rather than on Facebook, where your options are to look at most recent and top news - neither of which are typically of any interest to me personally.

The chat system is also obviously better than Facebook, but Google is really just using the chat system they had before, so I'm not sure whether I can really praise it, but I feel that it must be mentioned, because it's a really nice chat system to have in a social network.

I haven't used some of the other options quite yet, like the Hangout feature, but I'm certainly excited to try it - maybe see if I can get a friend or two to try it with me later tonight, and I'll let you know how it goes.

In conclusion, I really like this site so far.  Unfortunately, it is still in Beta, as I said earlier, so only a limited number of people are free to go on and play with it, and not all the features are fully implemented.  But, you can sign up to receive a notification on when the site is up and running fully.

So, if you're interested in that notification, check it out here: Google+
